Multi Level Kitchen Islands

There are many different types of islands that you are able to choose from. The most common fit neatly into the center of the kitchen to provide residents with a little to a lot more counter and cabinet space. The other common type of islands are set to the side of kitchens and act as a divider to the dining room or living room adjacent to it.

The multi level kitchen islands is one of the best designs to use when you have a kitchen with an open layout. The function of any type of island is to provide you with more space to cook, prepare food, wash dishes, store dishes, and eat. When you use this particular design you are giving your home something that offers each of these features.

The first level is complete counter space which allows you and your children to eat breakfast and other meals during the day. The second level of the island is another long counter top that is set a few inches below the first one. It usually attaches to the rest of the countertops built into the kitchen to help the kitchen to flow together seamlessly.

Below the countertops you have the chance to add more cabinets and drawers and make space for appliances and items that you have always wanted. It is not uncommon for people to use this extra space to install an dishwasher on these islands. Placing the machine in this area makes it easy for you to stack the dirty dishes the moment your children are finished eating without having to walk anywhere.

Another great feature you are able to add to the multi level kitchen island is a pull out trash. These are easy to purchase at your nearest home improvement store and are the most efficient to use. At first glance the garbage looks like any other cabinet – but when you pull it out it reveals a deep trash can. The best thing about this is that it helps to hide it from view and keeps the smell down to a minimum.

You need to milk your island for all it is worth – which means adding as much space as possible. People who have a lot of dishes can build more drawers and cabinets into the side of the island that faces the entrance to the kitchen. Another way you can use this space is to create open shelves where you can place decorations.
