One of the biggest problems that people have when it comes to their kitchens is the lack of cabinet space. They have so many dishes, food, and cooking items that they do not have the amount of space used to hold it all. One of the best ways to remedy this is to design a kitchen island with cabinets all around it.
When designing a kitchen cabinet island there are many things that you need to consider. You have to know what type of materials you want to use when making it, how much cabinet or drawer space you need, and what type of cabinets to use.
Cabinet And Drawer Space
Kitchen cabinet island designs need to be able to suit our needs and to make up for the lack of space in our kitchen. There are two ways in which you can design this. The first is to have a row of cabinets and drawers along on side of the island. The most useful is to have one large cabinet in the middle and a set of drawers on either side. This design is easier to use on the multi functional kitchen islands that have stovetops built into them.
The second is to have a row of cabinets and drawers on both sides of the island. With this design you will have the opportunity to do things that you have never had the option to do before. On one side you can store all of your baking dishes and on the other you can place your microwave. It is said that having a under the counter microwave is much better then one over the counter because it makes it safer and easier to grab hot and heavy items.
Materials
When designing your kitchen island no matter what type or style it might be you have to consider the materials that you want to use to make it. Wood is the obvious choice for us because of how strong and versatile it is. The question is what type of wood you would like to use. Some of the strongest woods to use are oak and cherry.
For the surface of the island you can will want to use something that is affordable, will match the kitchen, and can be used for almost anything. The most common options include, wood, stainless steel, laminate, marble, and granite.
