How To Decorate Kitchen Islands

Like with any part of our home the kitchen island needs to be decorated in a way that we will enjoy to look at it and want to use it more often. There are many different things that you are able to do which will help you to dramatically change any type of kitchen island that you have including the moveable kitchen island. These methods are inexpensive and allow you to change the look of your kitchen on a small budget.

Painting

One of the best ways to change and spice up the look of your kitchen island is to repaint it. Regular paint brushes, foam brushes, and sponge brushes are great to use and help to transform your boring island and make it more lively. Try to choose colors that are warm and will match well with the rest of the kitchen. It is best to stay away from bright colors like pink, green, and blue. Blue and green are better to use when they are dark.

Staining

Most kitchen island designs that we have in our home have wooden cabinets and a wooden base. Rather then painting over the beautiful contours and textures of the wood why not simply stain it. You can use either a light or dark stain that will help it to shine and look almost brand new again.

Tile

Decorating the kitchen island cabinets is not your only option. Why not cover up your old and worn out countertops with tiles? This option should not be used on moveable islands because they are too difficult and might hamper their usage. You can choose a variety of different colors when you do this and can create a unique pattern.

Lights

Lights are some of the best things that you can use when decorating kitchen islands. You can build them into your glass cabinets or install them to hand low over the top of them. They help to create the perfect ambience in the kitchen and can be found in a variety of shades and designs. You can even install them on the bottom of the island to provide lighting on the floor during the nighttime.
